1. Purpose
Mindway Health CIC recognises that some work activities may involve lone working. This policy sets out how we identify, manage, and reduce risks associated with lone working to protect the safety and wellbeing of staff, associates, volunteers, and service users.

2. Scope
This policy applies to therapists, trainers, staff, associates, volunteers, and contractors. Lone working may occur during one-to-one therapy sessions, home visits, community-based work, online or remote sessions, training delivery, and administrative work outside normal office hours.

3. Legal Framework
This policy is informed by the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and HSE Lone Working Guidance.

4. Risk Assessment
Mindway Health CIC identifies lone working risks as part of service planning, considers factors such as location, time, environment, and service user needs, and reviews risks regularly.

5. Safe Working Practices
Before lone working, relevant information and risk factors should be considered and clear boundaries agreed. During lone working, professional boundaries must be maintained and secure communication methods used. After lone working, concerns or incidents must be reported promptly.

6. Safeguarding & Personal Safety
If at any point a worker feels unsafe, the session may be paused or ended and appropriate support sought.
